Sun Prairie is Hiring, a digital effort to fill open positions is hosted by the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce; Sun Prairie’s Economic Development Department is a presenting sponsor of the event. The campaign is scheduled to run from October 26 through December 4.
The campaign is open to Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce members and non-members and supports full-time, part-time, seasonal, and specialized hiring. “We advertise as far north as Beaver Dam, as far south as Janesville, east to Watertown, and then west to Mount Horeb in looking for job seekers. Interested businesses could be hiring for multiple positions, or hiring for that one really specific position — full time, part time, or seasonal,” said Anessa Jacobson, who works as the Sun Prairie Chamber’s Event & Member Recruitment Coordinator.
What’s included?
- A business listing on the Sun Prairie Is Hiring campaign webpage;
- Direct links for job seekers to view and apply for open positions;
- Exposure through the Chamber’s digital advertising, social media, community outreach and workforce partnerships; and
- Additional promotional opportunities based on your selected participation level.
Participation starts at just $100 for Chamber members and $200 for non-members, with additional sponsorship options available for businesses looking for greater visibility.
The Sun Prairie is Hiring campaign temporarily replaces the Chamber’s Sun Prairie Job Fair, a one-day in-person event that required employers to market open jobs to visiting potential employees.
As the job market continues to evolve, many businesses are shifting away from mass hiring and focusing instead on finding candidates with specific skills and qualifications to fill individual positions. By expanding the campaign to six weeks, Jacobson hopes to give employers and job seekers more flexibility and time to connect.
“Sun Prairie Is Hiring creates an opportunity for businesses of all sizes to participate, regardless of how many positions they’re looking to fill,” Anessa said. “Rather than committing an entire day to an in-person event, employers can showcase their openings online and connect with job seekers who are a better fit for their specific needs. This digital approach offers greater flexibility for both employers and applicants, while allowing businesses to maximize their return on investment.”
The Chamber is currently seeking businesses who plan to hire during the Sun Prairie is Hiring campaign.
Marketing materials will use a QR code and link to the webpage where applicants can browse listings and follow links to each business website or hiring page. Employers will be able to link prospective employees to their pages directly to view job openings at that company or small business.
The Chamber will place targeted social media ads in order to spread the word about this campaign. They are also planning to work with the Dane County Job Center and Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development to further the reach.
The Chamber already supports local employment and workforce development through direct initiatives, community partnerships, and online resources such as an active ChamberMaster Job Board where existing member businesses (ranging from manufacturing and healthcare to retail and hospitality) post current full-time, part-time, and specialized openings.
Jacobson said results from Sun Prairie is Hiring will be tracked to determine the value of future limited-term digital hiring campaigns or whether the Chamber should return to a one-day hiring fair event next fall.
